| 抄録別表記: | A survey study was done to investigate (1) the life and work history of the graduates of the 4 year program of St.Luke's College of Nursing, (2) their job related conceptions and (3) opinions, suggestions, and requests to the St.Luke's College of Nursing. Questionnaires were collected anonymously by mail, and 532(69.2%) were returned, of which 524(68.1%) were usable. Analysis was made on background information and conceptual questions. Of the total sample of the graduates, 355(67.7%) work either full time or part time. A significantly larger proportion of those who are single than those who are married are working. The average number of years after graduation for the birth of the first child is 4.6, which seems to coincide with the time of the sudden decrease of working rate. Those who are married have the tendency to work in the area of education and public health nursing rather than hospital settings;whereas those who are single have the tendency to work in the hospital settings. Of those who are not working currently, 86.3% indicate that they are willing to return to work. Among items of job related concetions, "personal growth", "autonomy" and "acquiring new knowledge" earned the highest scores. Higher scores are assigned by those who are currently working than those who are not working regarding the items, "autonomy", "financial need" and "family ideology". Those who indicate that they are willing to return to work give higher scores to the item of "personal growth" than those who indicate otherwise. Graduates with master's degree assign higher scores concerning the item of "contribution for the development of the profession" compared to those who are without master's degree. |
