| 抄録: | バブル崩壊から始まった不況により､都市の公園や路上にはホームレス(路上生活者)が増え､他の先進
諸国と同様に社会問題として認識されつつある｡彼らに対する世間の目は厳しく､｢働かずして食っている｣
｢汚い､不潔｣といわれる｡彼らに対する否定的なイメージは簡単には払拭できず､私達看護職者は､病院
などで偏見による誤ったイメージで彼らを扱ってしまう危険性がある。
本論文の目的は､東京の山谷地区に住むホームレスの日々の生活を報告することである｡彼らの事実を知
ることで､少しでも彼らに対する偏見を修正できたらと願っている｡私達は山友会という､17年間山谷の人々
に衣食を中心に様々なサービスを提供している民間団体でフィールドワークを行い､活動に参加しながらフィー
ルドノートを作成した｡
山谷地域は江戸時代から貧民層､日雇労場者､売春婦等が住む街であった｡1970年から80年にかけて､東
京一の日雇労働市場として建設関係の労働者の供給源となった｡しかし､現在では求人数は減少し､山谷に
暮らす人々は今や殆どが高齢の単身男性である｡
路上にダンボ-ルをひき毛布をかけて寝ているホームレスは目に付く｡また､多くのホームレスがブルー
テントと呼ばれる青いビニールシートで覆ったテントで暮らしている｡彼らはわずかな現金を得るため､空
き缶等を集めて売る｡お金が得られなければ､生き残るために｢ごみ箱をあさる｣ことになる｡プライドを
犠牲にして生きる道を選ぶ､<ミジメ>へ落ちる｡人間としての<ホコリ>を守り<ミジメ>へ落ちる事を
拒否する者もいる｡それは生への戦略の放棄､すなわち死に続く道への選択である｡
本質は何か､事実はどうであるか､物事を探求していこうという姿勢が偏見を軽減し､彼らの事実を知る
ことによって､より慎重な言動をすることができるようになるであろう｡ |
| 抄録別表記: | Since the business recession became severe ten years ago, the number of homeless people has increased and it
has become a social problem in Japan like many other developed countries. People often see them as lazy, dirty, and
a nuisance. Prejudice against them once fixed can not be corrected easily, and the prejudice and stereo-type may result
nurses to treat them with misunderstanding and based manner.
This paper describes daily lives of homeless people living in Sanya area in Tokyo. The aim of the paper is to increase
understanding of the life of homeless people in order to rectify our biases. We selected Sanyu-kai, a non-profit
organization, as a study field and participated their activities. Sanyu-kai has been providing various supports, such
as health care, day-center, and meal services to those living in Sanya for 17 years. For two months, two to three days
each week, we participated in several activities in Sanyu-kai, and took field notes.
Sanya has a long history of small community of day laborers, prostitutes and vagabonds since Edo era. In
1970s and 80s, it used to supply a largest number of day laborers for construction in Tokyo. But, now jobs are scarce
and the majority of people living in Sanya now are single elderly men.
The homeless men sleep in cardboard boxes on streets with old blankets. Some of them have a tent house of blue
vinyl sheets. They get some small amount of money by selling cans and bottles collected from bins. If they have no
money, they gather unused lunch boxes from bins in order to survive a day. They have to sacrifice their pride for
survival and live a life of misery. Some people refuse to scavenge for left over food in garbage because of their pride
as a human. For those, it means giving up their life and choosing death on the street as their destination.
Knowing the truth and efforts for better understanding will help to reduce prejudice and open mind to know
an individual as a person rather than see them in stereo-type. |
