| 抄録別表記: | Twenty years have passed since Well Mother Clinic was started at St. Luke's International Hospital under the cooperation of "Health Care Club of House Wives of Tokyo Tomonokai". Dr. H. Hashimoto, late Director of this hospital initiated this project responding to the wants and needs of the group of housewives, as revealed in the report of a survey done in 1953.Well Mother Clinic was started in 1954 at our department, which dealt not only with members of Tokyo Tomonokai but also voluntary housewives, pregnant women and women refered from unions concerned with health care plan.The following are our impressions-how the health problems or diseases fo housewives picked up through the periodic health evaluation have been changing during the past twenty years.As to statistical survey of the feelings of healthiness of women of all decades, the percentage of women who are living with healthy feeling decreased from 11.8% to 6.8% during the past twenty years. As this survey was done quite roughly, we can not come to a resolution from this survey. However, it could be said civilization may have something to do with the increasing tendency of the loss of feeling of healthiness among Japanese women.As to the frequency of subjective complaints of women, easy tiredness came to the first, amounting to about the half of the examiness. Stiffness of shoulders came to the second, which was followed by headache in both the recent study group and that of the study done twenty years ago. Other minor complaints in each group are dizziness, anorexia, epigastrial pain, palpitation, insomnia, slight fever, etc.There seems to be increased frequency in the first three complaints among the recent group. It was no more than 10% of the women who consulted physicians for the purpose of health check up among the group of twenty years ago, while it increased to 78% in the recent group. The health check up was mainly done at our clinic, twenty years ago. However, now majority of cases is being done at other clinical institution besides our clinics. Twenty years ago, when the financial situation of the nation was still low, the chance for the physical examination seemed to have prevented from their needs for health check up. However, according to the present study, about 30% of the group answered that they wanted to have more detailed automated multiphasic health examinations which do cost up to 3, 500 yen at our hospital rate.The number of examinees each year at our clinic did not particularly change except for the decreasing number in the past two years. The age distribution reveals tendency of increase in the number of the aged generation than the younger one.The detection of diseases among the apparently healthy women in 1954 was 93.5%, anemia being the highest (8.3%) in incidence, which was followed by neurosis (7.3%), while in 1973 it decreased to 54.4%, disappearance of both diseases from the first five ranks.This project of health evaluation and guidance was done twenty years ago, by the endeavour of a small voluntary group.However, it has been becoming to be planned by the society, unions and the government. We believe such project should be planned in the general plan of health care system of the nation and it is good to know that it certainly is advancing towards that direction and it could be concluded that our performance played a real role in this context. |
