| 抄録: | 神経性大食症(Bulimia Nervosa : 以下BN)は､1980年代に提唱された比較的新しい概念で､過食と下
剤や自発喝吐による浄化を繰り返す病であり､近年､若い女性の間で増加傾向にある｡しかし､BNは神経
性無食欲症(Anorexia Nervosa : 以下AN)とは異なり､著しい体重減少を伴わないことがほとんどであ
るため､患者が明らかになることが少ない｡
本研究の目的は､BN患者たちの心理を病理としてではなく､現代社会に生きる若い女性たち共通の特徴
的な心理として理解することを試みることである｡BN女性たちは医療機関につながることが少ないため､
インターネットの検索ノにより､Webページを運営する10人のBN女性へのアクセスを得た｡結果､6人か
ら了解を得､彼女たちを対象者としてe-mailによるアンケートとインタビューを行った｡
BNになったきっかけとして､6人全員がダイエットと答えた｡彼女たちはただ｢痩せたい｣という思い
からでなく､低い自尊心からくる自己否定の一つの形として､食欲を過剰に抑えようとしたと考えられる｡
その反動として､過食が起こりBNという病理に発展していく｡
研究に参加した女性たちは､Web上で自分の思いを表現することを自己維持のためのストラテジーとし
て用いていると考えられる｡Web上で自分の思いを自由に吐き出すことが､彼女たちにとってカタルシス
の効果があると考えられる｡ネットの世界は彼女たちにとって安心することのできる大切な居場所である｡
そして､このインターネットの世界は外界とも内界ともいえない中間的な場所､すなわち､ウィニコットの
いう中間領域であり､パソコンは移行対象と捉えることができる｡
BN女性たちは､未熟な自己を抱え､インターネットという中間領域で他のBN女性たちと擬似コミュニ
ティーを形成し､外界へ適応するための学習をしていると考えられる｡ |
| 抄録別表記: | Bulimia Nervosa (BN) is a disease characterized by over-eating and purification through self-vomiting and diarrhea.
BN, a rather new concept developed in the 1980s, and the number of young women with BN have been rapidly
increasing since then. Despite its seriousness, it is not easy to provide professional help to persons with BN because
they are difficult to identify normal weight.
This paper describes the psychology of persons with BN. Data come from the contents of web pages on the
Internet, and 6 responses to an e-mailed questionnaire and interviews. Six women with BN who own their web pages
agreed to reply about the meaning for them of having a web page.
All the subjects answered that they initially committed to dieting, and later started bulimia eating. The reason
for diet and bulimia eating with purification appears to relate to low self-esteem and the gap between enlarged ideal
ego and the real self. The women tried to be thin in order to get praise for attractiveness, but failed in the hard diet
and then punished themselves through purification by self-vomiting and self-induced diarrhea.
Owning a web page is a strategy for the women with BN to maintain their normality. It provides them a way
of catharsis as they express their own thoughts and feelings in a safe place. The field of the Internet is considered
as an example of Winicott's intermediate area of experience, and the device of a personal computer is a transitional
object for them. Six women were adapting to the life in a real world through self-healing of writing their own feelings
and thoughts that was a partly pseudo-communication and relationship with other women with BN. |
