| 抄録別表記: | An apparatus for recording sucking of neonates was deviced. It provides means of recording the expression and sucktion components of sucking in a feed. It was designed to record the sucking activity of a feed as a whole.The apparatus consists of a specially reconstructed plastic feeding bottle with a latex nipple in which two steel tubes are installed for positive pressure (expression) and negative pressure (sucktion), tephlon connecting tubes, pressure transducers, preamplifier (carrier amplifiers), and a polychannel ink writing oscillograph recorder.Using this apparatus, 125 normal, 15 low birth weight, and 18 sick infants were studied. An entire sucking period of a total of 345 feedings were recorded. Negative pressure was analysed in this paper. Progress of sucking in an individual, individual differences among the first feedings in various infants are shown in the graphic pictures. The result shows that the negative pressure increases according to the age in days, and it is very low among the low birth weight infants. |
